GXflow 9.0

GXflow 9.0 version incorporates important new features in the following areas:

  • Adaptability
  • Flow control
  • Collaboration
  • Document Management
  • Scalability

Adaptability

A group of mechanisms is incorporated that allow adapting process to the changes that may arise during process execution. The possibility of including ad-hoc processes is included. That is to say, those processes that cannot be fully modeled in the analysis and design stage and for which granting freedom to users is needed for them to decide, in runtime, how processes will continue and how workload will be assigned. Besides, the possibility of undo or skip out process steps is added, which allows taking the process to an execution status consistent with reality when facing a specific exceptional situation.

Flow control

Support to the execution of multiple instances in parallel of an activity is added. The number of instances to be executed may be defined both in design and execution time. All matters related to synchronization are automatically handled by SGW. Besides, relevant data management was expanded to support this feature consistently.

Collaboration

Mechanisms were added to support that various uses can collaborate in the work to be executed within the frame of a specific activity. Besides, the delegation feature was improved by including a return mechanism.

Document Management

Going forward with the Document Management component evolution, we have added the Digital Signature and Full Text Search features.  The digital signature is a cryptographic method that allows guaranteeing data integrity as well as sender identity.  This is part of PKI infrastructure, which uses digital certificates (X.509) as central piece. The Full Text Search is another new feature of the Document Management component. Basically, it is a technology offering an indexation and search engine through which you can perform complex searches based on document contents.

Scalability

A group of preferences is incorporated with the objective of improving performance in large workload scenarios. Specifically, the possibility of executing different path and assignment decisions in background by SGW is added.  In this scenario, when a user completes a task, the task remains pasted and the user reassumes control immediately while SGW is in charge of processing these tasks in deferred mode, with specific timeouts.   Additionally, there is the possibility of setting up that the execution of a batch activity can be defined as asynchronic. This allows the user to reassume control without the need to wait until the processing is completed. This makes it possible to include heavy batch processes within the process flow logic transparently.
